VETERANS DAY WEST 2020 CONCERT

VETERANS DAY, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2020 AT 7:30 PM PACIFIC TIME

About the VETERANS DAY WEST Concert

The Veterans National Entertainment Workshop and the Battleship Iowa observe Veterans Day 2020 with a SPECIAL FREE ONLINE CONCERT – UNITED WE STAND – STRONGER TOGETHER! The concert will feature U.S. military veteran performers from around the country singing popular songs of unity, togetherness and friendship.

The concert features a special performance by world-famous soprano, Renée Fleming, and salutes to our veterans from several celebrities including Rich Little, Tanya Acker and more. Comedian BJ Lange, U.S. Air Force retired, hosts the program. The Battleship IOWA and The Veterans National Entertainment Workshop honor all veterans who have served our country – living and deceased – for their service and sacrifices. In these difficult pandemic times with social and economic hardship, we hold to the values of service and support, the power of unity, and the legacy of “working together” that have made this country strong. What better way to come together than joining in rousing, inspiring music performed by our veterans. Songs will include popular rock, folk, and pop covers by the Beatles, Andrew Gold, Matisyahu and more.

“We would never allow a pandemic to keep us from honoring our veterans, so we have found a way to not only honor them, but to inspire our community and nation to come together,” said Jonathan Williams, President & CEO of the Pacific Battleship Center.

The concert may also be viewed on the Veterans National Entertainment Workshop Facebook page and the Battleship USS IOWA website and Battleship USS Iowa Facebook page.

ABOUT THE BATTLESHIP IOWA MUSEUM

Entering service more than 75 years ago, the USS Iowa deployed to the South Pacific in the early years of World War II. The iconic battleship served with distinction in that war, and later during the Korean War. In the 1990s, as the Berlin Wall crumbled, the IOWA concluded her active duty. Battleship IOWA now serves as a 501c3 non-profit historic naval ship museum and is supported solely by earned revenues, individual donations, corporate foundations, and philanthropic organizations. Forged in war and a guardian of peace, the proud ship is the sentinel of the Los Angeles Waterfront. IOWA’s teak decks and steel bulkheads echo the words and deeds of history, having carried upon them three U.S. Presidents, six of the nine American five-star military leaders, countless foreign dignitaries, and thousands of her own heroic IOWA sailors. Visitors are awed by the IOWA’s proud legacy as one of the fastest and most powerful ships to ever sail the world’s oceans. Battleship IOWA Museum will become the National Museum of the Surface Navy by 2025.For information about public, education, veterans, and community programs, visit www.pacificbattleship.com.
